The Importance of School Attendance
The school wants all children to have the best possible attendance to enable each and every child to reach their full potential.
There is a strong link between good school attendance and achieving good results for children. Children who frequently miss school may fall behind in their work which may affect their future prospects.
Good school attendance also shows future employers that a young person is reliable, more likely to achieve well and play a positive role in their community.
At Riverside we work closely with families to support them to achieve the best possible outcomes for their children.
We currently write to families when their child’s attendance falls below 90% and this is done on a half termly basis. However, in the Summer term, we will be informing parents when their child’s attendance is in the 90-95% zone because we want to raise awareness of the possibility of falling below 90%. But we will also be writing to families when attendance is in the 95-100% zone as we believe this should be recognised and celebrated!
Please note:
The Governors of Riverside Primary School make clear their statement on Family Holidays in the school’s prospectus which states: ‘Riverside Primary School does not authorise holidays taken during term time.’
