Pupils will explore and perform basic body actions. They will use different body parts and perform using single body parts and then combine movements so that more than one body part is used at one time. Pupils will choose appropriate movements for particular dances. They will learn simple dances and begin to remember and repeat short dance phrases and simple dances, moving with control. Pupils will be taught to use the space available to them.
Pupils will exercise control when travelling and balancing on apparatus and large equipment. They will explore rolling, travelling and balancing and showcase a variety of these. Pupils will copy sequences, repeating them accurately. They will also stretch and curl their bodies in different ways.
Pupils will demonstrate a variety of ways to make a ball move using increasing control. They will primarily explore throwing and kicking a ball. Pupils will learn how to throw a ball underarm to their partner and catch the ball accurately using two hands, changing position so that they are in the best position to receive the pass. They will also showcase good hand eye co-ordination by hitting a ball with a bat and they will roll various pieces of equipment to aim for a target.
