School Council
School Councillors are voted for by their peers and they represent Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6. There are two school councillors - one boy and one girl - voted for by their classmates during elections in the autumn term. Children who wish to represent their class as part of the whole School Council must prepare and deliver a presentation to their classmates to convince them to vote for them.
The School Council is led by Mrs Roll, Nursery teacher, and school councillors meet at regular intervals throughout the year, mainly making suggestions for whole-school events like Anti-Bullying Week. A School Council provides a platform for pupils at Riverside to voice their opinions, participate in decision-making (like what to do in Anti-Bullying Week) and contribute to positive change within the school community.
Remember: if you want to make any suggestions or ideas for improvements to school life, be sure to tell the school council members from your class! You will know who they are by the School Councillor badge they wear.
