We have been ending our topic on Winter today. We recapped on what we need to wear on different parts of pur body to keep warm and why. We discussed how we know it is winter time by exploring the outside world as it doesn’t always snow in the winter months. We explored the fire and why we had it and how to stay safe around the fire. Then we talked about different foods to eat to keep warm and one of the suggestions was hotdogs so we all enjoyed some lovely warming winter food.
We have had Mrs Burston in helping us to bake some delicious cakes to help cheer us up, as it is so cold outside now and our timetable has changed so things are slightly different now, as we can't go outside straight away as it is too cold!!
Luckily we are learning all about winter this term and how to keep warm.
We listened to the story of Christmas. We were introduced to the characters and understood that Christians celebrate Christmas, as this was the day when Jesus the son of God was born. We learned a lot of new vocabulary and some of us even talked about the story in our other activities which showed we listened well.
Another fun packed time in nursery as Autumn 2 is coming to an end we wanted to share some of independent activities that we have carried out.
The children in nursery have been listening to a range of poems about fireworks. We have been exploring what fireworks 👀 look like and 👂 sound like. We discussed when and where we might see them. We also talked about the importance of never touching or going near fireworks as they burn! And if you handle a sparkler you need to wear 🧤 gloves.
We we made our own fireworks poem. Some children came up with sentences for the poem while others came up with words we could add. We really like our poem and hope you enjoy it too!
Look at our amazing work that we have been choosing to do independently in the nursery environment. We have explored different colours, colour mixing, printing, painting animals, gluing using tissue paper for a purpose e.g to decorate Elmer or just to make our own collage of colours. As well as drawing using crayons and pencils to improve our pencil ✏️ grip. We are able to put on an apron before painting and sometimes we even remember to put it back. I wonder what else we will learn in the half term...
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
