Sports Council
Pupils who attend this club are regarded as 'sports leaders' in our school. We meet regularly to improve PE provision at Riverside.
Sports Councillors help to ensure that every child has a voice in Riverside. This ensures that every child has the opportunity to be active at break and lunchtimes. Sports Councillors collate pupil voice questionnaires relating to extracurricular clubs pupils across the school wish to be provided for them. The results are analysed and external coaches provide clubs which are visually displayed beside the PE noticeboard. These clubs are reviewed during the academic year. They also ensure that the equipment in the PE cupboards is stored tidily and correctly. Resources in the cupboards are audited and sports councillors help manage the sports premium funding budget in order to purchase resources for the school. Sports Councillors also help to plan and set up intra-school competitions throughout the year, and they also lead the end-of-year Sports Day event for the whole school! We received the Gold Award for sports in July 2024, and we are aiming to maintain this standard.
