We all had great fun joining in with science week. We carried out different experiments and learned about animals, humans and their offspring.
We then joined in with the science fair, some of us went to the hall, where the parents and carers were and shared what our class had been learning. We also got to see what the other classes had been learning. It was great fun!
World Book Day
We joined in with the rest of the country to celebrate World Book Day. This year was all about share my story. We had a teacher visit from another class to share a story, we then shared our stories in the afternoon together. Do you like all the different characters? Can you guess what story we are from?
RNLI and Careers Week
We were lucky to have the RNLI visit us during Careers week to tell us what they do in their job. They also told us how to stay safe; as Lifeguards are not always on the beach. The Lifeguards explained the different ways that we can stay safe and to understand different things, like what the flags mean, so we know how to stay safe when next to water.
The Polar Express Afternoon
We joined together with Year 1 and Reception to have a Christmas afternoon. We watched the Polar Express while drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows. We used a range of materials to create different Christmas characters. We practiced our fine motor skills by colouring in and writing letters to Santa. We created large models of trains and other Christmas objects like Santa's sleigh. We also made the Polar express using biscuits and and different resources to decorate.
Year 1 and Year 2 had a great visitor in today. We had Gail form the Warburton family. She helped us to understand about healthy eating and how we can stay healthy by eating all the right kind of foods and trying to keep the sweet treats as just a treat and not in our everyday diet.
We explored a range of ingredients and looked at how many of our 5 a day we could fit into a sandwich. We chose our ingredients then made a yummy sandwich. Which we then got to eat. It was delicious!
Then it got even better we got a fab booklet and certificate and a loaf of bread to take home all from the Warburton lady. We were so excited!
Year 2 learned all about the different parts of Parliament and where they can be found in the UK.
We have joined in the country with Anti Bullying week. The theme this time being 'Choose Respect' We all wore our odd socks and carried out lessons to talk and learn about how we show respect and choose not to accept bullying at Riverside.
We all have the right to feel safe in school and we showed this through showing our respect and wearing our odd socks!
